i drift
only to find my way back to you
who bulges & begs for attention
in my pocket.
who throws itself open
& sulks of neglect from the middle of the floor.
who remains when all else has gone.
you linger like a shadow
even after we turn our face from the sun.
purr to me like a kitten from the window sill
& do not hush till your belly is rubbed.
& how long it has been.
